Madura just stumbled upon the recipe. One hot summer day, shuffling through her spice jars, she was trying to make an iced-spiced chai.
She was looking for the ingredients she needed to make Sanyukta Bharatam, our Classic Masala blend, but she just couldn't find everything she needed, so she threw together what she had, and voila, Sugrisma was born!
This "happy accident" blend has the best components of masala chai and iced Chai. It is nutty, spicy, and refreshing! We like it best chilled, but you can also drink it hot with a sweet treat on the side. Let's start with the science behind the popularity of drinking hot tea in some of the world's hottest places.
If you're looking to cool off after some time in the pool on a hot summer day, you're better off drinking a steaming hot cup of Sugrisma.
That's right; we said HOT. Drinking hot beverages, such as tea, have a cooling effect on the body. "A trio of studies co-authored by Jay, the latest appearing in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, reveal- drinking a hot drink after exercise in warm conditions (24°C/75°F) increases body temperature and subsequently lowers the body heat storage significantly more than drinking a cooler one."

Here is a recipe to make Iced Spiced Chilled Chai
Sugrisma Summer Masala Chilled Chai with whipped topping and a special spicy tea'wist.
1/2 c Water
1c Milk (Full fat Oat for a No-Moo Brew)
1tbsp Rani Rose Sugar,
2tbsp Rose Water
1/4 tsp Cardamom
1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/4 tsp Fennel
1/4 tsp Pepper
1/3 c Whipped Cream
2 shredded fresh mint leaves

- Bring water to a boil; add Sugrisma Black Tea blend.
- Boil for 6 minutes.
- Stir Occasionally; strain.
- Rest until room temperature.
- Refrigerate overnight (preferably for 24 hours)
- Make whipped topping (use coconut whipped cream for a No-Moo Brew). Mix in the spice blend
- Add ice, 3/4 cup chilled Chai, milk, Rani Rose Sugar, and Rose Water.
- Top with whipped cream and sprinkle some fresh mint and rani rose sugar for extra oomph.
